Courses for Christmas

Dear Reader,

As the end of the year and the festive season approaches, we thought we’d take a light-hearted look at how some of our courses could be used and who might find them useful. We hope you enjoy it.

We would also like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best wishes,

James

Courses for Christmas

How do you safely chop down a huge Christmas tree? While we can’t provide the tree, we can provide courses in how to safely use and maintain a chainsaw. Click here to find out more or visit our YouTube page for useful chainsaw maintenance videos from one of our instructors.

The North Pole is a busy place in the run up to the big night. The elves know how to shift stacks of presents, because they’ve all done our courses in safe driving of vehicles like quads, tractors and forklifts. Click here to see how we’ve helped them, and watch our videos on ATVs.

Santa and his team, as you know, make most of the toys they give out at Christmas. How do they do it? They’ve all been on courses that help them create metal toys and weld them together. Click here for more information or watch one of our videos with TIG welding instruction.

How do you shift all those presents, carrying them safely from the warehouse to Santa’s sleigh, without putting your back out? Like the elves, you can attend one of our health and safety courses. Click here for the details.

When he gets some time to relax (usually during the summer) Santa likes nothing better than working outside. He’s very proud of his dry stone walls and perfectly laid hedges. Click here to see the courses he’s done.

Are you looking for a different Christmas present for friends and family this year?

We have plenty of recreational courses for people who would like to try something they’ve never done before. And we have plenty of very practical courses too. Take a look at our website for all the details and get in touch to order your gift vouchers.

Ash Dieback Update from Lantra Awards

With the Ash Dieback situation changing daily, it is important to raise awareness of this disease, here are some useful links where you can gain the latest information.

Firstly - be aware of the disease, the potential danger it poses and what it looks like. Familiarise yourself with the symptoms, good examples of videos and pictures can be found here.

Secondly - if you find it, report it to the Forestry Commission.

Thirdly - if working in woodlands follow the Forestry Commission's biosecurity measures in their booklet – again this should be best practice.

Finally - keep abreast of what the government is doing about the disease as more advice and guidance will be coming out daily / weekly. You can keep up-to-date by keeping an eye on the Defra website and The Scottish Government website
