Forestry Training and Assessment all in One PlaceLantra Awards is the lead company responsible for awarding qualifications in forestry and arboriculture training in the UK, specialising in nationally recognised, accredited training and qualifications. They have been designing courses for over 40 years, so know what is needed from the training, from short courses to full qualifications, to meet your needs. Whether you are an employer with members of staff who need training, or you are the learner yourself, there are courses to suit. They are all very high quality and delivered by an exclusive network – including the Rural Skills Centre. The new range of qualifications and training has been created to follow new National Occupational Standards. This means they will meet industry needs for people working in the establishment, care, maintenance and management of individual trees, woodlands and forests, who need training and assessment.
The way the new qualifications and training has been set up means that you can carry out both the training and the assessment with the same Lantra approved training provider, which will save you time and money. In the past, you had to be trained by one provider and assessed by someone else; now you can do it all in one place.
There are many new courses available, covering all levels of requirements, from courses for occasional users, to courses that underpin the Licence to Practice, to full Qualifications & Credit Frameworks (QCF) qualifications. Examples of some of the new qualifications include:
• Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting • Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm • Level 2 Award in Accessing a Tree Using a Rope and Harness • Level 3 Award in Aerial Tree Rescue Operations
As one of the approved Lantra training centres, the Rural Skills Centre will be running many of the new courses and qualifications, so you can be trained and assessed at the same location.
