Dear reader,

There are many ways of using video to help build your business, but why not think about using it directly to make money?

This month we're following up on the short topic in April's newsletter on selling your expertise online, and offering a way to inspire potential customers – and increase your income!

I'd love to know your ideas for using video in your business, so please drop me an email.

Best wishes.

Gill

Using your Expert Knowledge

What's your area of expertise? Chances are if your business offers a service, that's your specialism. You provide your service to clients, probably in person, but there are only so many people you can see in a day.

So have you thought of offering your service from your website by turning it into an online training course?

Next time you're giving a seminar, think about having it filmed. It's already neatly divided into topics and sub-topics, with supporting material for each section. The video can be split up into small, discrete chunks – maybe only a couple of minutes long. You can offer each short recording as a stand-alone item, charging a small amount of money for access. Why not combine each segment with emailed notes as an additional learning resource?

The idea of online training isn't new, but there are lots of courses out there which require a subscription to the whole package, which usually means a substantial financial and personal commitment.

By providing your segments individually, it's much more affordable and less daunting for potential customers.

Once you've got everything set up with a Pay button on your site, your online training becomes almost self-administering. And the best thing for you is – because it's passive income - money can be trickling in all the time, day and night, from all over the world, while you're doing something else.

It's a great way of getting your name and reputation known to a whole new audience, and you're offering an additional service for people who might not be able to use your regular offerings. Who wouldn't want that?

Coming Up

At Oceanwake, we're putting our money where our mouth is… Very soon I'll be running a series of articles on putting together a web video. Keep reading See View to find out more, and make sure you've got our website in your favourites. I'm also going to be launching a video blog (or is that a vidlog?) on the same topic.

We've helped several clients already to put their expertise on video. Why not let us help you do the same? Please click here find out how.
