Hello Gentle Reader,

This week's spotlight falls on Caroline Manning. Caroline and I go way back, I've known her for what feels like a long time now and our paths have crossed in many different ways and in varying contexts from money to property via EFT and more. Hers, like mine, is a personal development journey - and just look how well she's done!

Meet Caroline, in her own words...

I am Caroline Manning, and my business is CarolineManning.com. I am a wife, mother of two girls, only child to two elderly disabled parents, and a business woman. I am also a prime example of the rapidly growing 'sandwich generation' *.

My business is all about living your life on purpose e.g. deliberately and I serve women, like me, who are ready to stop sacrificing, be themselves and have it all instead of struggling, losing themselves and doing it all. I came to this place in my life and business from going through my own personal experiences and knowing that without the tools I use every day for myself and my clients I would not be here today.

2013 has very much been my year to step up and fully step into my skills and talents. I’ve had to allow myself to follow my own my path even when it feels a bit big and scary at times!

As a Transformational Coach I help women (and some men) to shift their mindset so that they can set boundaries, start putting themselves first and get in the driving seat of their life. I specialise in helping them easily reduce the stress, strains and demands that are running the show that is their lives.

The truth is you have to be ready to do this work for yourself and not everybody is. This is the work that builds you from the inside out, it goes deep and it is especially powerful for those who are the lynch pins of their family - holding it together for everyone else. So I get to be the guide and example for my clients of someone who walked through it and has come out at the other side, better off for having done the work.

I work in one off calls and on programs so that my clients can move to this new way of being -  able to support themselves and living without fear, pain, guilt, resentment or just plain exhaustion!  In fact, many of my clients can’t believe how much they laugh in our calls together and how much moves for them at a deep level. I love my work.

That is what I do from the ’inside out’ and the other way I work is as a Laughter Leader. This allows me to work with people from the ‘outside in’. This year, 2013, saw me setting up a monthly Laughter Club here in Broadstairs (if you are here come join me) and I also started working in community and corporate settings. In November I travelled to Cardiff to run laughter sessions with staff on a corporate wellness day. I also speak on the topic of ‘Laughter for Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Clutter Clearing Inside and Out’ and am booked in at a local WI here in Kent for next year already.

The more people I speak with, the more of an epidemic I realise that struggle and sacrifice is - and it is global by the way, many of my clients are international - women holding things together and leaving themselves last, feeling it is selfish to take care of themselves, feeling guilty, powerless, underpaid and undervalued.

My mission and focus in 2014 is to get myself out there in the world even more and I am scheduling on-line courses, off-line workshops/retreats, speaking and laughter events and… my book release on the 31st of March 2014.

That should keep me busy. Whatever I do and however I do it, I want to introduce the idea that we are not alone, there is always another way and that it totally IS possible to change things easily – all you need is a willingness to go there. And the knowledge that you can do it without losing your sanity, your family or your business in the process even when you think you have done this before, feel totally trapped or cannot see a way out of your current situation and when it could seem like running away from it all or being dead would be better. I’ve been there and know how THAT feels.

So bring it on, 2014!

* The 'Sandwich Generation' a rapidly growing demographic of primarily women aged 40+ caring and supporting children/adult children still at home and elderly parents or relatives while simultaneously striving to maintain their own employment and lives. Currently some 1 out of every 5 women in the UK amounting to an estimated 2.4 million sandwich carers in the UK alone. Source: Carers UK
